Semester 1 reflection
I) This semester I feel that the quality of my work was not as strong as I would have preferred. The quality of my work was only okay but I definitely believe that I could have put much more effort in and made my work better. In my actual images I believe they could have been composed much better and I should have payed more attention to lighting and where the focus of the image should have been. Fulfilling the assignments and the quality of the subject matter wasn't as much of a problem. There were assignments that I could have taken a step further and made them stronger but overall I don't feel as though staying on the objective of the assignment was a problem. This semester I did well with updating my index prints and having them be the correct number of photos. Keeping proper format and resolution was not a problem for me in the first semester. This next semester I will get better at completing assignments on time and making sure that they are uploaded to my blog when grades are due. I feel as though I could have definitely gone beyond my first idea on some assignments and next semester I want to get better at taking my photos to the next level. My effort in this first semester could have been greater. I know that I could have put much more effort into each one of my assignments to make them even better. I was not actively taking photos when I should have been. I went to the most convenient locations and the most convenient subjects for my photos even if they didn't turn out the best. I should have put more planning into each one of my photos so they could have turned out better and I could have spent more time expanding on the assignment. At times I shot more than what was required but at times I shot less. I believe that I did try to take the easy route instead of accepting and learning from challenging photographic ideas. If I had an idea for a photo and it was difficult to shoot, I would find other ideas but the idea that was difficult would be included in my index print. I did not take enough risks creatively, conceptually, technically, or pertaining to the subject matter. I did have a positive attitude when looking at other students work and would focus on what they did and try to get some inspiration from them. I definitely could have been more positive towards my own work and used the challenges and successes as learning opportunities. My participation this semester was strong, I participated in every assignment that was given to me and showed up to class on time. There were days that I did not stay on task or work the entire block but I plan on fixing that this semester. I will learn to create my own style of photography so i can stand out with my photos this semester. I want to improve technically, have better composition, more compelling images, more confidence in all of the photos I take, and take more time to research and try new ideas to make stronger concepts. I will definitely try to improve in this next semester but putting my best effort into each assignment and getting them done as soon as possible instead of pushing them off and doing them the night before they are due.
II) I want to have an assignment that incorporates getting close up images with nature or animals.
